Coraline is a 2009 Oscar-nominated American stop-motion 3-D fantasy/horror film based on Neil Gaiman’s 2002 novel of the same name. It was produced by Laika and distributed by Focus Features. Written and directed by Henry Selick, it was released widely in US theaters on February 6, 2009, after a world premiere at the Portland International Film Festival. The film made $16.85 million during opening weekend, ranking third at the box office. As of September 2009, the film has grossed over $120 million worldwide.

It was written by Beverly Cleary and illustrated originally by Louis Darling.

StreetDance 3D movie
August 23rd, 2010 by pilekDirectors Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini have made their names in music video, and it shows with their treatment of this material. Whenever things slow down and the players are required to act, things get a little by-the-numbers, but once the music starts the film goes into high gear and Giwa and Pasquini come into their own, making everything bounce off the walls with a high-octane energy. The film perhaps doesn’t work so well in the technical sense. The 3D is fine and adds to the immersion, but cinematographer Sam McCurdy sometimes struggles to capture the dance performances adequately – he’s much better when it comes to the more conventional elements of the film – and everything suffers from being a little over edited in the micro sense.

The Shawshank Redemption
